DONATE TODAY!

In a world where millions of individuals face the challenges of debilitating diseases, it is essential to support programs and initiatives that provide hope and relief.  One such cause that demands our attention is the battle against Sickle Cell disease.  This inherited blood disorder affects countless lives, causing pain, organ damage, other health issues such as bone death and overall, a reduced lifespan.  However, amid the darkness, rays of hope are shining through by the Sickle Cell Consortium (SC3), an organization dedicated to transforming the lives of those affected by this condition.  By donating to Kindest, a fundraising platform supporting the Consortium's efforts to positively affect and make change within the Sickle Cell space, we can contribute majorly to education, compassionate care, and ultimately, the improved well-being of individuals both living, and affected by this disease.

The Sickle Cell Consortium (SC3) is a collaborative network of researchers, healthcare professionals, and advocates united in their mission to bring change to the SCD community, many of whom have the condition themselves. Sickle Cell disease affects millions of people globally, primarily those of African, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and South Asian descent. It is characterized by the production of abnormal hemoglobin, resulting in the deformation of red blood cells into a “sickle” shape. These misshapen cells can cause blockages in blood vessels, leading to severe pain, organ damage, and a multitude of complications. Individuals with this illness often face challenges such as frequent hospitalizations, limited access to quality care, and reduced quality of life. By supporting the Sickle Cell Consortium, we can help alleviate these burdens and improve the lives of those impacted.

SUPPORT THE SC3 2023
SERVICE PROJECT

The partners, patients, and caregivers of the Sickle Cell Consortium are pleased to present our annual service project - the BACK TO S.C.H.O.O.L. DRIVE & HEALTH FAIR. We recognize that sickle cell warriors are not just leaders in the sickle cell space, but are community leaders (both domestically and abroad).  As such, we coordinate a service project each year to embrace our role as leaders and support the communities where we hold the annual Convention.

This year, we have partnered with the Houston Health Department, the As One Foundation and the Houston Sickle Cell Collaborative to host Health Fair and Back to S.C.H.O.O.L. Supply Drive at the 5th Ward Multi-Service Center (4014 Market St., Houston, Texas, 77020), on July 23rd from 12 - 4 pm CST.  The service project is hosted separately from the Annual Convention and is not connected to any sponsorship level.

You can donate to support this act of service by earmarking a donation.

Your donation will help support this Health Fair.  We are proud to connect with the As One Foundation for the Back to S.C.H.O.O.L. (Sickle Cell Health On Our Level) portion of the service project.  These supplies will go out to sickle cell community children and the children of Houston's 5th Ward.  Please help us stuff backpacks with supplies.
