Excellence and expertise exactly where it belongs - in the hands of the patients.  We are proud to bring back the “Citizen Scientist” approach to disease education, patient-focused research, and clinical trial participation. We are of the firm opinion that no one can better define the sickle cell experience and how to navigate its challenges, than those living with the disease and our caregivers.

Last year we introduced "Citizen Scientists: Unpacking the Science of Sickle Cell", an initiative designed to cast patients and caregivers in the role as experts; to ensure that patients and caregivers have the knowledge to thoroughly understand their disease, and provide a space for their voices to be heard. The Citizen Scientist: Sickle Cell Classroom is an online platform housing dozens of educational videos to help the sickle cell patient and caregiver to take up the mantle as sickle cell expert and educator.
